The first step to changing your financial future and guaranteeing your families future is to make
a decision. Are you committed to securing your piece of the Prohibited Profits opportunity?
Over the years I’ve met thousands of people that understand how to make money. Today, there
is no shortage of business gurus and financial experts. Very few understand wealth creation and
living a life of abundance like Seth Maniscalco.
It took me years to realize that life was about more than money. Life is about living in pursuit of
our potential through serving others, starting with our family. I grew up with limiting beliefs
about money.
Since I was a little kid, it was ingrained in me that money and happiness were linked. Growing
up with a single mother, who raised six kids with very minimal support from my father, the only
times that I ever saw my beloved mom unhappy were when she was having financial issues.
When the car would break down or the dishwasher needed to be replaced, I saw the strain that
it would put on my mother, and I resolved myself to be “rich” in the future. I wanted to be rich
enough to buy my mom a house and a car, so that she wouldn’t have to worry about those
aspects of her life anymore.
As I progressed through my career, something rather unfortunate happened…. I became
successful. Things like becoming a millionaire just nine months out of law school, running
Samsung’s first smartphone division, and serving as CEO of the renowned Leigh Steinberg
Sports & Entertainment agency helped to reinforce my belief that money brought happiness.
The more success I saw, the further away I got from the values which had brought me success in
the first place (gratitude, empathy, accountability, and effective communication). I did end up
meeting my goal of buying my mom a house and car but failed to realize that I had lost touch
with myself along the way.
I became convinced that money could buy happiness and that mindset nearly ended up costing
me everything, but one event changed everything. Having become entitled and lost touch with
my values, I had decided to lie to my wife one night about having to work and instead I went to
an Emmys Party with the rapper Lil Jon.
When I came home drunk, she told me that she was unhappy with me and who I had become.
Blinded by my success, I resolved to leave her and take all of her happiness away. When I awoke
in the morning, I was angry and prepared to follow through with my resolution. In that moment
I looked in the closet and spotted a jacket that my father had given me.
You see, despite leaving my mom, my father had been my hero growing up, until he forgot my
10th birthday and decided to lie. He told me he hadn’t forgotten my birthday; he simply didn’t
celebrate them. It was a devastating blow to our relationship and something that I didn’t get
over until decades later.
The next gift I got from my father was on my 30th birthday, when he sent me a custom jacket. I
was elated to finally get a gift and hoped that this would be the first step in mending our
relationship, then I looked closer at the jacket. The pockets had all been ripped out, so I called
my father to ask why he was torturing me with this damaged jacket.
His message was clear: he told me the jacket was not for me to wear, it was a reminder. The
jacket with no pockets was meant to remind me that you can’t take anything with you when you
die. It had taken my father twenty years to learn that lesson, and he wanted to pass it along to
me.
I kept that jacket in my closet and didn’t pay it much attention, until the morning after the
Emmy Awards fiasco. When I woke up that next morning, I was still angry at my wife for calling
me out the evening before. It wasn’t until I set eyes upon that jacket hanging in my closet that I
realized just how lost I was.
I had been living in a world of scarcity, chasing profits rather than living in abundance, as I
consistently and persistently enjoy my pursuit of my potential. This experience helped me to
shift my perspective in a massive way.
The lessons that Seth shares in this book will help you to shed that scarce mindset holding you
back, as well as to take concrete actions towards your wealth goals. Don’t just dream about
manifesting your goals, you need to put into practice what my friend John Assaraf calls the Law
of GOYA (Get Off Your Ass!).
Prohibited Profits lays out strategies to help you be happier where you are financially, as well as
helping you angle towards where you want to be in terms of building your wealth.
Prohibited Profits is not just a message about creating wealth. It is a path to help you leverage
your time, so that you can continue down the path of pursuing your highest potential. For
people like myself and Seth, that means leveraging wealth to create freedom to show up as a
better father, husband and leader.
This book will help you learn from history and unlock the secrets of wealth hidden from the
masses. Prohibited Profits will teach you how to locate opportunities and how to take massive
action immediately. Remember, our intentions don’t work unless we work. They law of GOYA is
the only way to create the life of your dreams. When you take the right actions with your money
and can combine that with the currency of faith, you are certain to end up somewhere better,
brighter, and richer.
